Nicola Pearcey, Lionsgate Films
Nicola has been responsible for the development of the home entertainment operation at Lionsgate UK since 2006, following the acquisition of Redbus. Lionsgate UK is the premier independent producer and distributor of motion pictures, television programming, home entertainment and digital content. Over the past five years Lionsgate UK has diversified its slate, providing UK audiences with the record breaking horror franchise “SAW”, which now is the only movie franchise to carry two stand alone theme park rides in the UK, the sensational adaptation of Suzanne Collin’s best selling novel “THE HUNGER GAMES”, the blockbusting action starrer “THE EXPENDABLES”, which was one of the best selling title over the Christmas period on DVD and Blu-ray disc in the UK, the critically acclaimed and multi award winning series “MAD MEN” and the 2010 Oscar and BAFTA winning “THE HURT LOCKER” as well as the recent acquisition of the Miramax library (in conjunction with Studio Canal) which includes the Quentin Tarantino Classics “PULP FICTION” and “SIN CITY” as well as “THE BOY IN STRIPED PYJAMAS” and Oscar winner “GOOD WILL HUNTING”. Lionsgate UK are also committed to producing and financing British product allowing the best of home grown talent to be appreciated by all audiences. Lionsgate UK will release the international festival hit “SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN” starring Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt later this year, as well as fully financing and producing the first feature film starring the UK Comedy sensation Keith Lemon (of ITV’s Celebrity Juice).
Nicola oversees all packaged media and digital distribution in addition to home entertainment acquisitions and developments. Since launch, Lions Gate Home Entertainment UK has grown revenues considerably, delivering leading box office to DVD/BD conversion rates and standout direct to video launch programmes. In the UK, Lionsgate’s digital product slate is the most extensive portfolio in the company, therefore, the expansion of digital distribution across differing models is a key focal area of the overall business.
Nicola is also Chair of the DEGE Emerging Platforms committee, managing information flow from the US to European Emerging Platforms group, in addition to implementing speaker sessions. The group has also recently commissioned a research project taking place surrounding the Digital Space in the European market.
Having worked in the industry for 12 years, Nicola has held a variety of roles in sales and marketing at both MGM Pictures and Walt Disney Home Entertainment. She successfully managed release strategies for products such as the James Bond franchise, progressing its format lifecycle from VHS to DVD plus new release plus box office hits including Die Another Day. Whilst at Disney, she doubled Disney’s Video market share in the Irish territory in addition to overseeing Disney’s feature film catalogue development in the UK and Ireland.
Prior to working in home entertainment, Nicola worked in sales and marketing roles at Janssen-Cilag Pharmaceuticals, a division of Johnson and Johnson.
Nicola has various qualifications including DipM, MCIM Chartered Marketing, eMarketing award and a First Class BA Honours Degree in Marketing.
