Born in 1958, graduated from Sciences Po Paris, titular of a postgraduate degree in management and a law degree, Jean Yves Mirski began his career in 1982 in the Polygram Group where he was responsible for market research for all the group’s companies and also for the launch of the first musical VHS. In 1986 he joined a French independent record producer. Entered in 1990 SNEP (the French phonographic association) as Director for economic affairs, responsible among others of the Top 50, he became in 1995 Director of Economic Affairs and Prospective and was in charge of Multimedia and New Technologies. In 1999, Jean Yves Mirski became the General Director of SEVN (French Video Publishers Association) which represents the leading publishers and distributors of cinematographic and audiovisual works produced on DVD, Blu-ray, VOD where he participated actively in changing the windows to six months for video in November 2000. After a new action of the SEVN, the new windows got to 4 months in June 2009. He’s involved in the profession’s main concerns such as piracy, Blu-ray and UltraViolet developments, and all new technology aspects. Jean Yves Mirski is also in charge of representing the industry in many negociations and with the public administration. Otherwise, Jean Yves Mirski was named Chevalier des arts des Lettres.
